About Me

I earned my B.A. and M.A. at Iowa State University, where I majored in Political Science and History. I also interned at the World Bank as a James A. Socknat Fellow in Summer 2008. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, where I served as a research assistant to Sara Mitchell, collecting maritime dispute data for the Issue Correlates of War project. In my final year at Iowa, I was a Ballard Seashore Dissertation Year Fellow and served as a program assistant for the ISA-Midwest conference in St Louis. In addition, I have attended the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) summer program and the Essex Summer School in Social Science Data Analysis. I have previously worked at the University of Missouri and the University of Alabama.

When not conducting research, I enjoy watching and reading about sports, especially soccer and professional basketball. I also enjoy going to concerts, listening to podcasts from The Ringer and the Men in Blazers, and reading books by Chuck Klosterman and the late Hunter S Thompson.
